Quick & dirty results for August 14, 2020

  • The show was going to begin with Big E vs. John Morrison, but before it could start, Retribution appeared and assaulted both of them.
  • We meet up with Big E, John Morrison and various other superstars gathered backstage worried about Retribution. King Corbin shows up to volunteer to lead the superstars to “battle”. Big E makes a rousing speech to go on with the show. Sheamus shows up to attack Big E’s confidence. Big E doesn’t back down.
  • The Golden Role Models are in the ring to intro the #1 Contender’s Match Battle Royale for Bayley’s SmackDown’s Womens Championship. They roast The IIconics, Teagan Nox, and Shotzi Blackheart as they make their entrances. Bayley notices a card and tries to skip it, turns out it’s Asuka’s who immediately beats up Bayley and Sasha.
  • Asuka wins the #1 Contender’s Battle Royale for the SmackDown Women’s Championship
    Asuka wins when Shayna Bazsler attempts to choke her out while over the rope and Asuka pulls her down. She will face both Bayley and Sasha for their respective titles at SummerSlam.
  • Backstage, Asuka jumps Bayley and Sasha.
  • Mandy Rose challenged Sonya Deville to a Hair vs. Hair match at SummerSlam.
  • Nikki Cross is excited to see Alexa Bliss, but Alexa is distant. When Nikki tries to convince her to leave for her safety, she chooses to stay to get answers from Braun.
  • Sheamus defeated Shorty G
    Sheamus pins Shorty G after a Brogue Kick.
  • Before the break, we see AJ Styles discussing something with Joseph Park aka Abyss.
  • We come back to AJ and Joseph Park introducing the Phenomenal Intercontinental Statistics System (PISS). It’s a blank white board used to show “no one deserves” to face AJ for his title. Jeff Hardy comes out to challenge him. In response AJ says no and Jeff punches him in the face, then writes his name on the PISS.
  • Lucha House Party steal Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura’s Tag Team title belts.
  • Kayla asks AJ about facing Jeff and he again, refuses.
  • Gran Metalik defeated Shinsuke Nakamura
    Metalik wins after a Flying Elbow Drop following a distraction from a returning Kalisto.
  • Backstage, Kayla interviews Matt Riddle about the King’s Ransom. Shorty G shows up to apologize, but it appears to have been a trick to distract from a sneak attack from King Corbin.
  • Alexa Bliss has an interview backstage about her relationship with Braun Strowman and her experience with The Fiend.
  • Jeff Hardy vs. AJ Styles for the Intercontinental Championship is announced for Next Week.
  • Sonya accepts Mandy’s challenge.
  • Big E defeated John Morrison
    Big E submits John Morrison with a Stretch Muffler. During the match, Retribution flicker the lights which causes the SmackDown roster to head to ringside for protection. Retribution is shown trashing the locker room area, beating up bystanders and spray painting anti-WWE logos. Ref Jessika Carr informs the Superstars who go back to the locker room to stop them but it’s too late. After the match, Sheamus Brogue Kicks E and Braun Strowman comes out.
  • Braun demands The Fiend come to the ring and gets Alexa Bliss instead. Alexa tries to talk and slap some sense into Braun, but he refuses to even look at her. Braun holds Alexa up in the air and throws her down, but the lights cut off while she’s in midair. The lights come back on and The Fiend is in the ring with Alexa on the ground. Braun shows up on the Titantron and laughs. Fiend begins to laugh and the two superstars laugh at each other to end the show.
