GCW Homecoming Part 2 Recap & Results – 7.26.2020

Welcome back, folks! Its time for GCW Homecoming Part 2! Will Nick Gage earn a title shot or will Rickey Shane Page and 44.OH end Gage’s GCW career? Will some one get thrown off the Boardwalk? Let’s find out!

TONY DEPPEN VS LEE MORIARTY

The show starts off with a strong mat wrestling match between two on Pennsylvania’s best. The match is pretty even, until Moriarty picks the pace up to grab the advantage.

Moriarty is very smooth in the ring, and so is Deppen. Deppen is the veteran and he uses it to take over the match. Moriarty regains control by working Deppen’s left arm, making it useless. Deppen uses a well timed snot rocket to bring the match back to his pace. Unfortunately, for him, the pace quickens again and Moriarty is able to score a flash pin in what was definitely an upset.

Great match from both. Deppen is a superstar and Moriarty isn’t far behind. Give me more matches between these two.

8 MAN TAG MATCH: THESE GUYS (LOGAN STUNT, BENJAMIN CARTER, FACADE, EL PRESIDENTE LORD SANCHEZ) VS THE SECOND GEAR CREW (1 CALLED MANDERS, MATTHEW JUSTICE,EFFY, AND MANCE WARNER) W/ AJ GRAY

Yes, Matthew Justice’s face still looks bad but, better. The match starts quick with SGC beating the crap out of Logan Stunt. Once the beating of the young Stunt ends, we get some flippy shit dives from Carter and Facade. Everyone looks pretty good in this match.

The one “botch” comes in the unsuccessful attempt of Facade to produce a fireball. Thanks to the wind coming off the coast on the boardwalk, Facade smiles and improvises by just spitting the lighter fluid in Effy’s face. A little back and forth until SGC picks up the win on a moonsault from Manders.

KTB VS ACH

I didn’t say it last time but, I’ll say it now: I love having ACH back.

He is one of the best wrestlers in the world and we need him in our lives. KTB is no slouch, though.

Both guys are very strong, fast and agile. These two were given time, and we were rewarded with a fantastic match. There were chairs and doors involved but, the wrestling was the focus. KTB hit a springboard powerbomb that got a two count. ACH got a two count on a frog splash where he traveled from one side of the ring to the other. A superplex got a one count.

Finally, ACH hits a brainbuster to prevails to go 2-0 on the weekend. See this match! Also, GCW, or any other promotion, give me these two again soon!

DEATH MATCH ZACHARY WENTZ VS ALEX COLON

MORE BLOOD! Wentz is one third of the Rascalz in Impact Wrestling. Colon is a Death Match King. It was said, Wentz wanted this match as a challenge to himself, and boy did he get it. Unlike yesterday versus Gray, Colon waited until the match started to make himself bleed.

This match was the better of the Death Matches from the weekend, as these two had me on the edge of my seat. Again, so much blood, so many light tubes, doors, and panes of glass. Wentz got tossed to the outside and went through a pane of glass which sat upon two barbed wire covered doors that rested on two chairs.

Colon went for the Spanish Fly with Wentz through a pane of glass, the same move he beat AJ Gray with but, Wentz kicked out. Bundles of light tubes joined the fray. Colon hit a Faithbreak from the corner but, holy shit, Wentz kicked out of this too! Finally, Colon hits a DVD for the win.

What a match! Wentz and Colon went out there and stole the damn show! If you’re a fan of either guy or death matches, you’ve got to watch this one.

SCRAMBLE MATCH: JORDAN OLIVER VS JIMMY LLOYD VS TRE LAMAR VS ALEX ZAYNE VS MYRON REED VS BLAKE CHRISTIAN

This time the Scramble Match started the second half of the show. It also got a little bit more time than the one from Part 1. Everyone was flying in this match. You have some great young talent in this match that will be the future innovators of Professional Wrestling.

Everyone looked good and Christian won with a Tornillo. I’m starting to feel a little spoiled as I was let down, at one point, when Christian hit a frog splash. That tells you how good these guys are.

CHRIS DICKINSON VS CALVIN TANKMAN

BIG MEATY MEN SLAPPING MEAT! This was a hoss fight, and a very rare one where Dickinson was the much smaller man. Seriously, Dickinson was getting manhandled in this match and looking around confused at how Tankman was dominating him.

Dickinson did eventually gain the upper hand but, Tankman had an answer. It wasn’t until Tankman missed a moonsault, that Dickinson took control and won with a massive running lariat.

This was a good, fun big man match. Dickinson continues to be great and Tankman continues to show that he may be the next great big man.

JOEY JANELA VS LIO RUSH

This was billed as Lio’s final match, which just so happened to be his first match since his release or, if Cagematch is correct, his first match since February 28th of this year.

These two go at each other like only they can. There were some sloppy points but, we’ll chalk it up to ring rust. Janela gets color when Rush throws him hard into the steel ring post. Rush gets thrown through a door. He recovers and hits a frog splash on Janela putting him through a “Japanese” aka sturdier door. Janela kicks out.

They eventually go outside where Janela has some doors set up on top of some large bar style chairs. Janela grabs a ladder, climbs up to stand on top of a pillar near a building, before jumping off, dropping an elbow on Rush, putting Rush through the doors, and bouncing his own head off the boardwalk in the process. Either Janela was selling real well or he knocked himself silly.

They do eventually return to the ring, where Janela hits a super kick on Rush to win the match.

Post match, Janela cuts a heartfelt, fiery promo talking about the excellence that is Rush and ACH. He hands the mic to Rush who thanks everyone for their support. Janela takes it back and says he knows Rush will be back. Janela leaves, Rush says goodbye but, he doesn’t comment on the possibility of this not being his last match.

ALLIE KAT VS NATE WEBB

This match never happened thank to the dinguses known as 44.OH. Even worse, they were at full strength as Gregory Iron was with them. Have I mentioned how much those guys suck?

THOSE GUYS SUCK.

At least they waited until after Nate Webb came out so I could get my Wheatus fix. That will be the last nice thing I say about 44.OH.

44.OH come out to gloat because it was learned that Nick Gage was injured earlier in the day at the Beyond Wrestling show and would not be able to compete. That left SHLAK, alone, to fight on behalf of Team MDK.

MAIN EVENT: TEAM 44.OH (ERIC RYAN, ATTICUS COGAR, RICKEY SHANE PAGE) W/ EDDY ONLY AND GREGORY IRON VS TEAM MDK (THERE IS ONLY SHLAK)

The stipulation laid down yesterday still stands, with an adjustment. If Team MDK wins, SHLAK will get a title shot instead of Nick Gage. If 44.OH wins, Gage’s GCW career is over.

SHLAK fights valiantly, putting Cogar and Ryan through some glass panes before the damned numbers game gets him. Butthead Club, I mean 44.OH, is in control until Alex Colon shows up to dole out some light tube justice. Unfortunately, he gets overwhelmed and is put through a pane of glass.

44.OH are licking their chops sense victory is at hand when, all of the sudden, AJ Gray shows up. Gray whoops some ass, helping turn the tide as he hands out a BBC lariat cleans some house. Gray and a recovered SHLAK fight off the non MATCH participating 44.OH members, setting up a much more manageable 2 on 3 situation.

SHLAK sets up and hits RSP with a sitout chokebomb from the top rope through a pane of glass. Ryan breaks it up though, so SHLAK and Gray suplex him through a pane of glass. Gray goes for the pin but, SHLAK pushes him off. “Not this way,” SHLAK says.

He calls to the back and out comes MDK, Nick “Fucking” Gage, doing his best Willis Reed impression. Gage limps into the ring and pins Ryan. Rickey Shit Pants, whoops, Rickey Shane Page stands in bloody disbelief as he now has to defend his title against Nick Gage.

All, I can say is, HA! Oh and, MDK ALL FUCKIN’ DAY!

That’s was the show folks! GCW delivers again! Their next show is Keep In Touch, Sunday August 2nd. See ya then! Take care, be safe, and wear a mask.
