  • CM Punk vs. MJF in a dog collar match
  • “Hangman” Adam Page (c) vs. Adam Cole for the AEW World Championship

Hook vs. QT Marshall (pre-show)

Mitchiner: We don’t call Rampage “The Hook Show” for nothing. QT gets put to sleep, but not before eating a beautifully nasty suplex or twenty.

Alison: No way this isn’t a showcase for fan-favorite Hook. QT will go down clean after putting the kid through his paces.

Anthony: Send Hook! Seriously, QT is just here to get bodied.

Phil: Hook. Duh. Come on. Like… come on.

Robert: These two have a complex 20-minute emotional affair that culminates with QT Marshall standing over Hook’s lifeless body, cussing out Taz at the commentary table. Just kidding.  Hook in less than five minutes. There’s a reason it’s “Send Hook” and not “Send the QT”

Leyla Hirsch vs. Kris Statlander (pre-show)

Mitchiner: On one hand, you’ve got Statlander, the white hot babyface lady hoss, but on the other, you’ve got body tossing, arm breaking, scrappy ass Leyla Hirsch, who has the added bonus of fury from being told “lol, you’re adopted.” I’m going with our Short Queen Leyla for the upset.

Alison: I want Hirsch to win this, because I am a huge fan. On the other hand, I’m not sure AEW will be able to shake the association with her Russian heritage if she wins, and Cold War styled heels likely won’t go over right now as well as they used to. Unfortunately, I think Statlander will win this, and Hirsch will face turn over the next few weeks to steer her clear of any possible controversy.

Anthony: Hirsch wins and becomes (spoiler alert) Thunder Rosa’s first challenger.

Phil: This could go either way. I think this has more to do with future plans for the TBS Championship. If they’re going to have a current AEW wrestler dethrone Jade at some point, then I’ll pick Statlander here. She’d be great for that… But my money is on Athena coming in at some point to take the strap after Cargill vacates it Goldberg / US Title style. So… Buttlander for the win.

Robert: As much as I love Kris Statlander (and I do!), I think Leyla Hirsch wins via illegitimate measures. Maybe she bites Stat’s finger on the Boop and Stat can’t function anymore?

House of Black vs. Death Triangle and Erick Redbeard

Mitchiner: This couldn’t be an easier pick for me. Lucha Bros, and therefore by association, Death Triangle, for life. I hope to see at least four and a half broken arms.

Alison: As a Lucha Underground fan, I really want Death Triangle led by the newly-reincarnated Penta Oscura to win this. Hopefully that will end the feud between these two and House of Black can go back to luring Julia Hart into their piratical clutches.

Anthony: House Of Black. Thank you Redbeard for showing up to eat the pin.

Phil: In order for The House of Black to be a real threat, they need to start winning matches. I think it’s time we had a defector in Death Triangle, too. Break ’em up and give me PAC vs. Hangman. So, Three Groan Mean Going Through A Goth Phase win via Penta turning on PAC.

Robert: I really wanted Erick Redbeard to be the newest of Death Triangle, which means they’d have to change their name to Death Square. Sounds totally better. I think we see Buddy Matthews turn face and cost the BBCs (Big Black Creeps, you weirdos) the win.

Jade Cargill vs. Tay Conti

Mitchiner: Tay Conti is great, and her time will most certainly come, but this ain’t it. With Thunder Rosa currently tied up in the women’s main event, I don’t think we’ve yet met the woman to take the silver and blue belt off of Jade.

Alison: Jade Cargill has this one in the bag. I still don’t see her quite yet as the star that some others do, but now that she has the belt, I think she needs to keep it for a bit longer to build her mythology for the future.

Anthony: Jade all the way. Athena fka Ember Moon arrives for a stare down.

Phil: Honestly, I think there’s a slim chance that Jade Cargill never loses. Like, actually finishes her career 500-0 and retires as AEW World Champion. If she keeps training with Danielson, I think that could actually rule. I’m not saying that’s a great idea, but I’m a sucker for seeing something new. Jade for the win here, obviously.

Robert: Tay is ready to start her climb to the top of the division and the first step in getting there is to win the TBS Championship. Tay forgot that the current champ is Jade Cargill, who Jades Conti to keep her strap.

AHFO vs. Sammy Guevara, Sting and Darby Allin

Mitchiner: It’s the Clash of the Mish-Mash, with Andrade El Idolo, Matt Hardy, and Isiah Kassidy fighting Sting, his adopted emo son, and his adopted emo son’s super jock best frenemy. My prediction hinges on the outcome of Rampage, because I think Andrade will steal the pin for the TNT belt after Darby hits the Coffin Drop on Sammy, which will lead to dysfunction on the face team and an AHFO win on Sunday.

Alison: This match is a real toss-up for me. I enjoy the wrestlers on both teams, and I think they’ll put on a fantastic show, so I don’t really mind who comes out with the win. I think it makes the most sense to let Andrade win, perhaps with Darby taking the fall for maximum heat.

Anthony: Sammy, Sting, and Darby win. Hardy is kicked out of AHFO, now know as the AFO.

Phil: Well, it certainly feels like we’re due for the AHFO to be… BROKEN, aren’t we? We can’t get to Broken Matt Hardy without a loss here, so I’m going with Sting & Friends.

Robert: When 2/3 of your team is 93-year-old Matt Hardy and Isiah Kassidy, you’re already at an inherent disadvantage. Sorry, Andrade. At least you’re not in the other promotion still. Plus, Kassidy is there to eat the pin for you and Matt. I reserve the right to make AHFO the winner if someone gets hurt and Willow shows up.

Jurassic Express vs. reDRagon vs. The Young Bucks

Mitchiner: Champions traditionally have the disadvantage in triple threat-plus matches, but I think the simmering animosity between the Bucks and ReDragon is going to end up costing either of them the win. I don’t know who’s going to bone who, but I expect the boy and his dinosaur to walk out with gold still around their waists.

Alison: I’m going to go with the unpopular prediction on this one and pick reDRagon to win. If they and Adam Cole come out of this PPV “draped in gold” it will surely annoy everyone, which is exactly the kind of heelish result that will have us tuning in next week. On the other hand, if Jurassic Express somehow retain, then my fan booking is for The Acclaimed to take the titles on TV and drop them to Top Flight on a PPV further down the line.

Anthony: Jurassic Express retain. The divide deepens between The Young Bucks and ReDRagon.

Phil: Jurassic Express have to take this one since their reign is too new and too uneventful to date. Plus, we don’t need the titles on the line for Bucks / reDRagon to be compelling when they inevitably give it away on free TV. I’d much rather see JE mix it up with Top Flight or one of the the 200 other excellent tag teams for the straps than go straight back to the Young Bucks at the top again.

Robert: It admittedly took me a couple weeks to figure out which letters in reDRagon are supposed to be capitalized but here we are. I think it’s too early to take the straps off Jurassic Express; however, they’re sucking wind and haven’t done jack since they won them. I’m going to say rEDraGOn (I’ll figure it out one day) wins via nefarious means to set up the Young Bucks feud.

Jon Moxley vs. Bryan Danielson

Mitchiner: I expect nothing less than epically beautiful violence. If I don’t flinch and put my hands on my head at least ten times, I’ll be shocked. Both of these guys are so strong right now that I can’t even begin to guess who wins. Matter of fact, I’m gonna go with a draw.

Alison: As the resident Steel Ring Post Mox-hater, I am not very interested in this match. I hope The American Dragon squashes Moxley in about 10 seconds and we can quickly move on to the next one. Knowing my luck it’ll probably drag out to a tedious time limit draw.

Anthony: This one ends in a draw. Let the building of the Mox-Dragon Dungeon begin.

Phil: Both guys get their heads kicked/punched in. Danielson wins and Mox sees the light and joins forces with the American Dragon. We all win.

Robert: There will be blood. Copious amounts of blood. Regardless who wins, as long as there’s blood, we get the Danielson Dojo starring Special Instructor Jon Moxley. That’s all I want from this fight. Bonding through blood. *flips a coin* Danielson wins.

Chris Jericho vs. Eddie Kingston

Mitchiner: For all of his problematic behavior in real life and his overplayed, grating promos, Jericho is one of the best in the business at putting over the right people at the right time. I expect this to be another brutal outing, with Eddie pulling out the bloody win.

Alison: Another match that doesn’t interest me very much because I find Kingston’s wrestling almost as boring as Moxley’s. Nevertheless, I expect him to win, with Jericho once again putting over his opponent.

Anthony: Kingston wins.

Phil: This is almost a little too obvious, but I’m guessing Santana & Ortiz help Kingston get the win. I’ve been over the Inner Circle for a while now. Burn it all down – everyone involved will be better off.

Robert: I’d love to see these two dudes feud for a while longer but that’s a testament to the performances of the characters involved. I want them to yell at each other on the mic some more and not have it be over. The premise has been that Kingston can’t win the big one. Well buckos, today is the time. Kingston over Jericho.

Keith Lee vs. Orange Cassidy vs. Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Ricky Starks vs. Wardlow vs. Christian Cage

Mitchiner: I love pretty much everyone in this match for one reason or another, but I feel like this needs to either go to one of the homegrown hosses, Wardlow or Hobbs. Let’s say Wardlow, to add fuel to the smoldering fire of the ever pending breakup with MJF.

Alison: This match has the potential to be the dark horse match of the night. With three hosses we are sure to see a lot of terrifying spots and bouncing rings as they crash to the ground. Since the prize is a chance to face Sammy Guevara for the TNT championship, I imagine a heel will win, and I think it’s Wardlow’s time.

Anthony: There’s quite a bit of chatter that Scorpio Sky is going to beat Sammy Wednesday on Dynamite. If that happens, I doubt Sky is losing to the winner of this match. So, I’m going to go with my gut and say Ricky wins. Sammy beats Sky Wednesday. Ricky beats Sammy at some point. Hobbs inherits the FTW title. Side note: Thank you, Christian for directing traffic in this ladder match.

Phil: I’m picking based on the assumption that he will go on to dethrone Sammy Two Belts to become the next TNT Champion. For that reason alone, I think it has to be Wardlow since him holding the title is a key element of the ongoing split story between him and MJF.

Robert: I feel like my prediction has to have more words than the participant-listing so here we go. There’s only two guys that are serious threats here. Christian Cage isn’t one of them. Either are the FTW guys but I could see some cracks between them. As for OC, he’s gonna be too lazy to climb the ladder. That leaves us with Keith Lee or Wardlow. Lee is brand new and has that new car shine…ya know, if your car is a literal Mack truck. But I’m going with Wardlow fighting off Shawn Spears and winning this ladder match – catapulting him into the land of superstardom.

Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. vs. Thunder Rosa

Mitchiner: This HAS to be Rosa’s time, right? If the righteously pissed off Mexican murder queen can’t finally dethrone the Doctor, who the hell can? If Britt wins, I don’t even know what to do with this division anymore.

Alison: Thunder Rosa has to win this. She has been waiting long enough, and the crowd is completely behind her. Even if Britt Baker officially joined reDRagon and Adam Cole’s soon-to-be draped in gold faction, it would feel like too much. DMD doesn’t need the title, and AEW needs a shake-up in the women’s division – let’s give it to Rosa.

Anthony: There’s a rumor going around that Thunder Rosa is hurt. I hope not because, now is the time to take the title off Britt. I’m not a Britt hater, but I think her title reign has reached its expiration date.

Phil: Britt Baker went from being the face of the women’s division and needing the belt to validate her spot to finally being at the level where she doesn’t actually need the belt to be seen as the face of the division. So, as long as the rumors of Thunder Rosa’s injury are false, it’s time for her to reach the top of the mountain. Either woman winning this match works, though, so let’s just sit back and enjoy a match that could steal the show.

Robert: The rubber match to determine the champ. Just what I want to hear. I’m not sure these two can ever top their Lights Out match but they have pretty good chemistry regardless. I expect to see plenty of callbacks though. I’m going to go out on a limb and say Thunder Rosa wins AND Jamie Hayter splits from Baker and Rebel. A Britt Split, if you will.

CM Punk vs. MJF

Mitchiner: My classic favorite and my new generation favorite, slugging it out in the rubber match of this feud. I will be a CM Punk mark until the day I die, but MJF has poured so much emotion into this build that I feel he’s not only going to win, but win cleanly and decisively.

Alison: I am all in for MJF to beat CM Punk a second (third!) time here, just to make him even more insufferable. I don’t see what Punk winning could do for the storyline, other than perhaps humbling and woobifying MJF, which feels like a story we’re not ready for yet.

Anthony: Punk wins, but he goes “too far”, giving us Heel CM Punk.

Phil: I’m hoping this doesn’t rely too heavily on Wardlow interference (or lack of interference), but my gut says that’ll be the crux of this match’s climax. Similar to the ladder match, I’m guessing based on where I think the AEW World Championship goes from here. I’m leaning toward Hangman –> Punk –> MJF, which means Punk wins here and then loses to MJF at All Out (IN CHICAGO!). Then Kenny comes back and kills MJF, sending him to WWE for 3-5 years.

Robert: There will be blood. Copious amounts of blood. Oh wait, I already did that schtick. After splitting Punker open on Dynamite, CM Punk will be on the warpath. I would not be surprised if MJF kept his winning streak intact but I think they finally let Punk get a W over young Maxwell. I could see this match going before the ladder match to split Wardy from MJF.

“Hangman” Adam Page vs. Adam Cole

Mitchiner: It is WAY too soon for Big Platinum to be back in the hands of the Elite again. Adam Cole has plenty of other story threads to keep him occupied (Uncontested Epoch vs the Elite in Blood & Guts, please and thank you), and after the two year epic that was Hangman’s journey to the championship, it would be a nigh unforgivable disservice to him to cut his reign this short. Hangman pulls it off after way too many dangerously close kickouts from Cole.

Alison: Y’all know I pick Adam Cole for this win. I love Hangman, but I’ve got my eggs in the draped in gold basket so I can’t turn that back now. I feel like AEW has to capitalize on the appearance of three of NXT’s Undisputed Era showing up all around the same time – if they don’t pull the trigger now, the chance to tell that crossover storyline will be gone, and then we’ll get a flop match like FTR versus The Young Bucks… Four years after everyone stopped caring. Let’s do it now.

Anthony: Hangman has had some great title defenses. He is everything you want in a Heavyweight Champion. I love Hangman. I went back and forth on this one, and I’m still not 100% sure this is the right choice. Hangman retains the title.

Phil: I’m sure this will be a good match. Both of these guys can go in big match settings like nobody’s business… But does anybody really think Cole has a chance? Oh, Alison does? Well, does anybody else? Hangman for the win.

Robert: Adam wins. Book it. It’s the smart money pick. With reDRagon winning the tag straps, I don’t foresee them getting every title tonight. Let’s go with Hangman Page retaining.
