NXT Takeover 31 Results – 10.4.2020

Quick & dirty results for October 4th, 2020

Check us out some time later this week for a Pops & Botches review of Takeover 31.

  • NXT North American Championship Match: Damien Priest (c) defeated Johnny Gargano
Priest countered The One Final Beat into The Reckoning with Gargano draped over the middle ropes & got the win.
  • KUSHIDA defeated The Velveteen Dream
Dream hit a Dream Valley Driver but KUSHIDA held onto Dream’s arm & transitioned into The Hoverboard Lock, causing Dream to tap out. Dream yelled some taunts while lying on the mat in defeat after, so KUSHIDA beat him up more until officials pulled him off.
  • NXT Cruiserweight Championship Match: Santos Escobar (c) defeated Swerve Scott
After a long back & forth, the two were on the apron & Escobar knocked Swerve down, hitting his head on the metal part of the bottom turnbuckle. Escobar dragged him back in the ring, then hit a Double Underhook Facebreaker & got the victory.
  • NXT Women’s Championship Match: Io Shirai (c) defeated Candice LeRae
Despite a referee bump & Candice hitting Shirai with the title belt while he was out, Shirai was able to recover. She hit a top rope Spanish Fly & then the Over The Moonsault for the pin.
  • After the match, Toni Storm appeared on the video screen & warned Io Shirai along with the rest of the women’s division that she is now on The NXT Women’s roster. After her promo, the mystery biker that NXT had been showing pulled up to the arena, entered the building & came to the ring with Io Shirai still there. They took their helmet off & it was Ember Moon.
  • NXT Championship Match: Finn Balor (c) defeated Kyle O’Reilly
Balor worked O’Reilly’s midsection most of the match & eventually connected with The Coup De Grace & pinned him. After the match, Balor shook O’Reilly’s hand & raised his arm up with his. The camera panned to the crowd & Ridge Holland had Adam Cole knocked out on his shoulder. He dumped him in front of the ring & left as the rest of Undisputed Era came down to check on Cole as the show ended.
